- Funtopia Community Playground -

Building a community playground began as a dream for Michelle Jordan. Michelle had a goal of raising $150,000 which would net the community a 12,500 square foot playground. 

The playground process and funding took a year and a half. Children were involved from the conception to the construction. Mrs. Henson's fourth grade class of 2002 at Morningside Elementary School came up with the winning name, "Funtopia". 

Funtopia was built in 5 glorious days - April 24 through April 28, 2002. Rain, mud, cold, and a threat of a tornado did not stop the enthusiasm our community felt in building Funtopia. 

 

Funtopia has a ripple effect in our community. When you see the excitement in a child's eye and the laughter in their voice at play, you know it's a good thing!  Funtopia has two separate play areas: one for children 2 to 5 years of age and another for children 5 to 12 years of age. Adult supervision is recommended for school age children. All preschoolers are required to have adult supervision
