- Elizabethtown Nature Park -

The Mission Statement for this park is "To provide environmentally conscious stewardship of the Elizabethtown Nature Park for recreational, educational, and social development emphasizing protection, restoration, and preservation of natural resources".

The Elizabethtown Nature Park is Elizabethtown's newest park with 104-acres of gently rolling former pastureland. Freeman Creek meanders through the park as it flows to the City's largest lake, Freeman Lake. The Nature Park has been set aside as a passive park, where residents can enjoy the natural beauty of our community. A tunnel, connecting the Nature Park and the north end of Freeman Lake Park, was recently constructed underneath Ring Road.

Plans call for a nature center, a native grasses meadow, and hiking trails to enjoy the creek, streams and woodlands found on the property. The park will be developed in phases over the next ten years. The gently rolling terrain of the land offers some outstanding views across the property. The master plan for the property was developed after a series of public meetings and workshops. The public input culminated in the creation of a master plan for the park that was adopted by the Elizabethtown City Council in the Spring of 2000.

Come to see the beauty; come to see our history at the Elizabethtown Nature Park.
