Elizabethtown features Freeman Lake Park with a beautiful lake, picnic facilities, paddleboat and canoe rentals, fishing, and a wonderful view. You may also enjoy hiking one of the many maintained nature trails that surround the lake. Other points of interest in Elizabethtown include the Schmidt's Museum of Coca-Cola Memorabilia, Swope's Cars of Yesteryear Museum, the Hardin County History Museum, the Brown-Pusey House, the Lincoln Heritage House, Sarah Bush Johnston Lincoln Memorial, and the One-Room Schoolhouse.
Just six miles south of Elizabethtown is the historic town of Glendale with its antique shops and uniquely Kentucky dining. Travel nine miles south to Hodgenville and see the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site, Lincoln Museum, and Lincoln's Boyhood Home. Traveling fifteen miles north to Fort Knox, you can browse through the Patton Museum. Twenty miles east is Historic Old Bardstown including My Old Kentucky Home State Park and the famous production of "Stephen Foster-The Musical". Maker's Mark Distillery, located in Loretto, and the Kentucky Railway Museum in New Haven, are also within twenty-five miles of Elizabethtown. Mammoth Cave National Park is forty miles south. If you travel toward Lexington, less than two hours away, you can experience Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill and the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. In addition, Louisville is only forty miles north where you may visit the historic Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby Museum.
Because Elizabethtown is so conveniently and centrally located, you will find that touring the area is not only enjoyable but also free from the hassle of long distance travel.
