FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Louisville City FC to Play Preseason Match at Elizabethtown Sports Park

ELIZABETHTOWN (January 19, 2018) – The Louisville City FC will play their third preseason match of the 2018 USL season in Elizabethtown on March 7.

The professional soccer club will first fly south to Bradenton, Florida for a two-week stint at IMG Academy on February 4, where LouCity will conduct a private training camp.

Upon returning, LouCity kicks off a four-match slate in the state of Kentucky, where they will play their third match at the Elizabethtown Sports Park.

“There’s no better way to kick off the 2018 event season than with LouCity FC back in Elizabethtown,” said Janna Clark, sports and sales director of the Elizabethtown Sports Park. “The quality of soccer at this level makes the matches very entertaining. Thousands of fans came out to see these two teams last March, so we’d like to show that type of support again this year.”

In 2017, LouCity played their first preseason match against Lipscomb University at the Elizabethtown Sports Park, losing 1-0. Though they kicked off the season with a loss, they went on to become the 2017 United Soccer League (USL) Champions.

The preseason match in Elizabethtown will be held the evening of March 7 and admission is free to the public. The time of the event is currently TBD, but updated information can found on the team’s website, LouisvilleCityFC.com, closer to event date.

About Louisville City FC
Since its launch in 2014, Louisville City FC has been committed to serving the community of Louisville as the city’s lone professional soccer team.  The 2017 season marked the third year of play for LouCity in the United Soccer League (USL), a professional soccer league based in the United States and Canada. On October 26, the Louisville Metro Council voted overwhelmingly in favor of a new soccer-specific stadium in the Butchertown neighborhood with a projected opening slated for March 2020.

After finishing in the top five in average attendance in the USL at Slugger Field since 2015, LouCity’s remarkable 2017 campaign included winning the 2017 USL Cup in the club’s first appearance in the final.
