The Pool
Nothing says summer quite like a trip to the pool, and lucky for y’all the pool at the American Legion Water Park opens up on May 23 for the season! The American Legion Pool has splash pads for kiddos, spots where grown-ups can lounge and is an overall great spot to soak in the sun and enjoy the weekend.
Freeman Lake
Freeman Lake Park has got anything and everything you need to make the most of your weekend! I mean they literally have anything, thanks to the Your Gear is Here program! Head to the park office and grab equipment for fishing, pickleball, tennis, disc golf and more. All you need is your ID and you are good to go.
If you're looking for a little history to add to your weekend, you'll find historic buildings like a one-room schoolhouse, and even homes that have connections to the Lincoln family. Who said learning couldn't be fun?
As if you couldn't top all of that fun, Freeman Lake gets even better. You'll find trails ranging in distance and terrain that go around the lake and connect to the Nature Park, giving you two stops in one!
Nature Park
Speaking of the Nature Park, this spot needs to make your must-see list! It is home to some beautiful trails and scenery, but there is another gem waiting for you here.
The Nature Park is home to the Hardin County Veterans Tribute and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. Both of these tributes provide a meaningful insight into the sacrifice of those who have served. We are so fortunate to have these in our community, and they would make an excellent addition to your Memorial Day Weekend.
Explore Downtown
Another way to spice up your weekend is to explore our lovely Downtown! Downtown is filled with wonderful things to do that will take your weekend from good to great.
In Downtown Elizabethtown, you'll find a wide variety of dining for every eater from the pickiest to the most adventurous, along with cozy bars that create the perfect weekend vibe. There's also places like The Dreamery and Kuddy's Sips and Sweets that are serving up gelatos, craft sodas, baked goods and more for when the sweet tooth hits, of course!
