Mural to be painted on Elizabethtown water tower
Elizabethtown, Ky. April 16, 2018 – The Elizabethtown Tourism and Convention Bureau is excited to announce that Eric Henn Murals will begin to paint the water tower on exit 91 off Interstate 65 in the coming weeks.
The water tower is owned by the City of Elizabethtown and the Elizabethtown Tourism and Convention Bureau have commissioned the mural.
“We are transforming a local blank canvas into a notable landmark for those traveling in and through Kentucky,” stated Sherry Murphy, director of the ETCB. “Much like the ‘Florence Y’all’ water tower in Northern Kentucky or the Versailles racehorse mural on the Bluegrass Parkway, travelers will look for the tower and know that they are in a familiar place.”
The water tower will depict two scenes: one of a youth soccer player kicking a soccer ball, the other of a youth baseball player batting from home plate. Both sides of the water tower will include the “Etown: the City of BIG Surprises” logo and the Elizabethtown Sports Park logo.
Eric Henn Murals is best known in this area for their Maker’s Mark mural on the water tower in Lebanon, Kentucky, which has turned into a Kentucky Bourbon Trail photo-op that pictures a Maker’s Mark bottle pouring liquid down the tower’s 135-foot length.
