For many pop culture historians and sociologists, Marilyn Monroe is considered one of the most influential and iconic figures of the 20th Century. For Hardin County residents this weekend, she’ll be the subject of a look-a-like contest at the Historic State Theater in downtown Elizabethtown.

The contest is at 2 p.m. Saturday with registration starting at 1 p.m. Registration for the contest costs $10 and a $200 prize will be given to the winner, along with a $100 runner-up prize.

Zach Humphrey, executive director at the State Theater, said the contest initially was held in 2015. It was not held last year. He said the contest has now made a return after demand from those who wanted to compete.

The contest corresponds with Cruisin’ the Heartland festivities this weekend. Humphrey said the contest is a good fit for the nostalgic theme of the auto event.
