Welcome to Elizabethtown, or as we locals call it, Etown! Swinging through for the weekend or planning a staycation? We've got everything you need for a great time! I have just the itinerary to make sure you soak in all the charm, history, and good eats this town has to offer. So grab your walking shoes and maybe a little room in your stomach because, trust me, you’re going to want to eat your way through town.
Day 1: Welcome to Etown!
Morning: A Slow Start with a Strong Coffee
Every good adventure starts with coffee, and Vibe Coffee is just the place to get your morning pick-me-up. There’s nothing better than a good cup of locally brewed coffee to kick off the day. Grab a honey lavender latte or a classic cold brew and take a little stroll downtown while the city wakes up.
Mid-Morning: History and a Little Window Shopping
Now, if there’s one thing locals love, it’s a good story, and boy, does Etown have plenty of those. Take a trip to the Hardin County History Museum, where you’ll find tales of Civil War history, local legends, and a few surprises. Afterward, wander down Public Square and pop into Denizen or That Cute Little Shop. You never know what treasures you’ll stumble across.
Lunch: A Bite at Back Home
By now, you’re probably thinking, “When’s lunch?” and let me tell you, Back Home Restaurant is a wonderful choice. The country-fried steak? Absolute magic. And if you leave without trying the Mac ‘n Cheese, you might regret it.
Afternoon: A Little Fresh Air at Freeman Lake
After all that good food, it’s time for a little fresh air. Freeman Lake Park is a local gem, perfect for a nice walk, a little fishing, or just sitting by the water and enjoying the view. If you’re the active type, rent a kayak and get out on the lake. But if you’re one to enjoy a leisurely stroll, the trails are just the thing.
Evening: Dinner & Drinks at Social on Main
Now, this is where we kick things up a notch. Social on Main is a casual family-friendly food hall with bowling, games, and a self-pour beer tap wall. The ambiance? Top-notch. The drinks? Even better. Try their Cherry Manhattan, it's like a little Kentucky hug in a glass. Pair that with any of their delicious food options, and you have yourself a perfect evening.
Day 2: More Etown Magic
Morning: Brunch at Toasted Yolk
If you know me, you know I never say no to brunch. The Toasted Yolk is famous for their delicious omelets and great coffee to start out your day. Be sure to grab a mimosa to cheers the start of your adventure!
Late Morning: Indoor Fun!
For a dose of indoor fun check out Elizabethtown's indoor amusement park, Malibu Jack's! A wide range of activist for fun at any age, try out some mini golf, go-karts, laser tag and even an indoor roller coaster. There is unlimited amounts of fun for all ages at Malibu Jack's.
Lunch: A Quick & Tasty Stop at Impellizzeri’s
Pizza lovers, this one’s for you. Impellizzeri’s serves up some of the best pies around, and it’s a go-to spot for many when you’re craving something cheesy and delicious.
Pro tip: Go for the meats pizza. It’s big enough to share and is absolutely delicious!
Afternoon: Wineries, Breweries, and a Toast to Etown
What’s a weekend getaway without a little wine or craft beer? Head over to Flywheel Brewing for a laid-back vibe and some fantastic locally brewed beer. If wine is more your style, Water’s Edge Winery is a great place to sip and relax. They have something for everyone, whether it’s a crisp white or a bold red.
Evening: One Last Meal at J.R. Neighbors
Let’s close out the weekend with a meal to remember. J.R. Neighbors is a wonderful spot for a hearty meal. Their burgers? Unbelievable. The craft cocktails? Even better. Sit back and soak in the last bit of Etown magic before heading home.
And just like that, 48 hours in Etown have come and gone! If it was your first visit or one of many, I hope you leave with a full stomach, a happy heart, and maybe a few new favorite spots of your own. Until next time, friends… cheers!
