There’s nothing quite like the 4th of July in Elizabethtown. Sunshine, fireworks, and small-town charm come together to create a day full of summer magic. If you’re trying to find a great place to celebrate Independence Day, Etown is waiting for you!
Founders Day Fireworks 4th of July
Elizabethtown was founded on July 4th, 1797, so when this town celebrates, it means something special. The annual Founders' Day Fireworks, launched from the Elizabethtown Community & Technical College (ECTC) campus, are among the most anticipated events of the year. Pack your lawn chairs or a picnic blanket and head to the area early. Parking on University Drive opens at 7:00 PM, and the fireworks begin around 10:00 PM. The show is synchronized to music, which you can hear live on local stations like Quicksie 98.3 and 94.3 The Wolf—so tune in and enjoy every pop, sparkle, and boom.
American Legion Water Park
Before the evening festivities, cool down at the American Legion Water Park. It’s a great summer spot in Etown, with tall water slides, a relaxing lazy river, splash zones for kids, and even a playground nearby. The water park is paid admission, but there’s a free splash pad right next to it for little ones, just steps from the Funtopia Playground. It’s a fun and easy way to beat the heat before the fireworks kick off.
