Fourth of July is here, and this year is a big one! America is turning 250, and there’s no better place to celebrate than Elizabethtown, KY. Fun fact – America and Etown share a birthday, so this really is the best place to spend the holiday!
Check out Local Decor
There's nothing better than a town that gets gussied up for the holidays, and this Fourth of July, Elizabethtown is showing up and showing out! There are so many spots around town that are decked out for the Fourth, so you obviously have to check them out, right?
The David May House (home of yours truly, Elizabethtown Tourism) is sporting festive buntings & flags, along with our neighbors in their new location, That Cute Little Shop! What's better than two visits in one? City Hall and Downtown Elizabethtown are also decked out in true Americana fashion, so you'll have to check those out as well.
Founders’ Day Fireworks
To me, nothing says Fourth of July more than a classic firework show, After all, what tops an awesome fireworks display in a wonderful town like Elizabethtown?
The Founders' Day Fireworks are a quintessential Elizabethtown event, and it's easy to see why. Head over to the parking lot at Elizabethtown Community & Technical College (located at 600 College Street Road) and get ready to watch the sky light up! The fireworks will begin at 10pm, but parking begins at 7pm, so you've got plenty of time to get there and get settled. Grab your crew, bring some blankets, get cozy and celebrate the Fourth the right way.

Get out & take a dip
Fourth of July and going to the pool just makes sense! The American Legion Water Park is open for the season, and it's the perfect way to beat the summer heat. The American Legion Water Park has a pool, a lazy river, a splash pad and more, making it an ideal spot to spend the Fourth. Parents, kick back and relax and let the kiddos make a splash!

Get Outside
If you're feeling competitive, leave your equipment at home and check out our Your Gear Is Here program! Freeman Lake Park, the Pritchard Community Center and the American Legion Park are equipped with pickleball, bocce, tennis, fishing and more, all you need is an ID and you're good to go. You can borrow these items at no cost and spend the fourth with a little friendly competition.
