Outdoor Adventure

There’s nothing quite like getting outside during the summer! Etown is full of outdoor adventure, and I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

Take a Dip

Summer is the best time to hit the pool and make a splash! The American Legion Water Park is the perfect place to beat the heat and cool off with options for everyone. If you've got little ones, they can play in the splash pad while you lay by the pool and soak in some rays. There's also a water park and a lazy river - this place screams summertime fun!

Grab your Gear and Play

Your Gear Is Here is a program that allows for visitors to rent gear from American Legion Park and Freeman Lake - completely free! You can get gear for pickleball, tennis, fishing and disc golf, all you need is your ID and you are good to go.

Connect with Nature

Etown is full of parks and scenic trails that make for a beautiful afternoon. At the Elizabethtown Nature Park, you can explore over 100 acres of greenspace and hit the trail (insider tip - the trail here connects to Freeman Lake so you can get the best of both worlds)! Along with lots of land and the trail, the nature park is also the location of the Hardin County Veteran's Tribute and the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall. Here, you can pay your respects to the fallen and learn about a piece of American history.

Freeman Lake offers play, history and scenery. Freeman Lake is home to the Oasis Playground, which is ADA accessible and a great spot for the kiddos to burn their energy. In addition to the gear you find with Your Gear Is Here, you can rent pedal boats and paddle boats so you can set sail on the beautiful lake. Also seen at the Lake are the Summit One-Room Schoolhouse, Sarah Bush-Johnston Log Cabin and the Lincoln Heritage House which showcase historical connections to our area. You can also never go wrong with walking the trails and taking in the sights - there really is no better way to spend the day!
