Memorial Day Weekend is almost here, and Etown is full of ways to spend the long weekend. Whether you want to see a unique piece of American history, spend the day in the sun or explore the beauty of the outdoors, I've got the itinerary for you.

Nature Park 2

Visit the Nature Park

The Nature Park is home to a veterans tribute, beautiful scenery and walking trails. The park features a replica of the Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial Wall and the Hardin County Veteran's Tribute. Fun fact, this memorial was built in just 40 days with the help of a local veterans tribute group. In addition to the Wall and Veteran's Memorial, the Nature Park has over 100 acres of land and walking trails where you can soak in the outdoors.

Make a splash at the American Legion Water Park

Memorial Day Weekend in Etown means the pool at the American Legion Water Park is open! Beat the heat and dive in headfirst, take a pass through the lazy river, let the kiddos play in the splash pad and soak in some fun in the sun. There is no shortage of pool-time play, whether you have a crew that loves to splash & adventure, or if your vibe is more of a bask-and-sun-bathe kind of day, there is something for everyone.

Spend the day at Freeman Lake

Freeman Lake is filled with things to do, and Memorial Day Weekend is the perfect time to take advantage! Start your day off at the Oasis Playground, an ADA accessible playground that is perfect for little ones. Head over to the front office and rent gear for pickleball, tennis, fishing and disc golf, all for free through the Your Gear is Here program! All you’ll need is an ID (and maybe your competitive spirit if you’re playing at the courts.) Here's another tip, you can rent a paddleboat and hit the water for the day for a different way to spend the day at the lake. In the mood for a history lesson? Freeman Lake is also home to a few different historical buildings storying Abraham Lincoln’s family and their time in Elizabethtown.
